🍅 Tomatoes + ⌛ Urgency = 🤑

It’s been a while since I’ve emailed you. I apologize, I know you’ve been refreshing your inbox every few minutes for the past few weeks and waiting for an email from me. Well, here it is.

One of the things I’ve shared is how to work effectively when you need to get something done.

This includes a few steps to this system that works well for me.

Step One - Pomodoro Sessions

What is a Pomodoro Session?

Work on one thing at a time for a condensed period. This means you work on one thing only for 25 minutes and take a break of 5 minutes.

Step 2 - Parkison’s Law

What is Parkison’s Law?

”Work expands to fill the time available for its completion”In other words, if you had only 1 hour to complete a task where you think you’ll need 5 hours for it, you’ll complete it in 1 hour since that’s all you have.

Were you ever in a situation where you had something you needed to get done 15 minutes before a meeting and magically got it done? That’s Parkison’s Law.

The way I leverage this is whenever I do a Pomodoro Session I work on only one thing, but do my best to FINISH it within the 25 minutes. This can be a new presentation I’m working on, finding a winning product, etc. Many times I will do this before the call where I need to present whatever it is I’m working on to my team or to the company I’m consulting for, this keeps the urgency there and keeps me focused.

Step 3 - Eliminate Distractions

Have all your other tabs closed except the ones needed to get the job done. No social media or communication channels are open, your phone is in “do not disturb” mode, etc. Do not multitask.

The workshop was almost two hours long and I covered different topics ranging from how I manage my team, how I run multiple businesses, how I put my wife and family first, tips on productivity, etc.
