STOP using your inserts to get reviews!

STOP using your inserts to get reviews!

Hi ,

Today, I want to talk to you about inserts.

When I say inserts, I’m referring to those small cards you usually get when buying a physical product online. Here are some examples of classic inserts (that don’t really work):

Not only do these not really work, but almost all of the above are now against Amazon’s TOS (Terms of Service).

Inserts that will work need to be a no-brainer for the consumer. They either need to use your product, want to understand how to use it better, or to improve their overall experience.

Here’s the evolution of the insert:

In the past = A seller would have an insert that would ask for a review. They might even offer some incentive for it, such as a $5 gift card or a free product. They would basically condition the customer to leave a review in order to get that free gift.

Today = Sellers mainly offer things like discount codes, extended warranties, joining a “VIP Club”, the chance to win something, or something vague like a free gift for those who opt-in.

What’s the problem?

Those don’t really work. Even warranties, which can work, are usually done by sellers incorrectly, or for the wrong type of products.

What does work?

Giving value.

Value can be to go watch a video for the best 5 ways to use your product, or a detailed video on how to install your product (on top of the written instructions).

Value can be a PDF file or a spreadsheet that the customer might need to use the product. Maybe they want the instructions to be emailed to them for future use.

There’s a lot more to be said about inserts, I don’t know it all, and can’t share it all in just an email.

I’ve decided to talk about this in the first-ever workshop for the new Top Dog Community that I launched two weeks ago. We already have lots of engagement in, and people are excited about this first workshop.

Since I don’t know everything on the topic, I’ve also invited some friends to help:

Yael Cabily - I’ll be showing what Yael still considers to be within and against TOS.

Amy Wees - Amy recorded a short video of her approach to a good insert and how to provide value.

Leo Sgovio - Leo will show how he finds products that generate a lot of reviews on Amazon, how to find strong insert funnels, and how to use those in your own business.

I will also talk about what’s the real goal of using inserts. Hint: It’s not to get reviews.

This is happening live exactly 2 hours from now at 2pm EST / 9pm Israel. If you haven’t yet, check out the rest of the details about the community here: https://www.jointopdog.com/topdogcommunity
