⛈️ Bad ➡️ Perspective 🌄
Hi ,
Today, I want to talk to you about perspective. You’re probably wondering why not talk about something fun, like the new Amazon Capacity Manager, or how to manage your PPC portfolios 🤪
Well, you see, this week we celebrate Passover here in Israel. Passover is all about freedom and how the Jewish people got to the holy land 2000 years ago.
Let me tell you, packing up to spend 4 days with my wife and 3 kids under the age of 6, doesn’t feel like freedom. Packing the clothes, toys, toothbrushes, pacifiers, diapers, and snacks, making sure there’s enough gas so we don’t need to stop on the way during our 2-hour drive, all to spend a long holiday dinner with my side of the family. At this point of the day, I don’t feel fortunate, thankful, or anything really. I just want to be done with this Passover dinner and get some rest at my wife’s cousin's house where we’ll be staying for a few days.
4:00pm - We left our house and drove through the busiest road in Israel; Road #6. It’s a highway where most drive at 120km / 75m per hour. During the holiday dinner, it feels like the entire country is on the road.
5:00pm - With the kids talking in the back and me and my wife trying to hear each other in the front, at around 5pm, there’s a loud 💥 BOOM 💥 coming from the engine, and the engine light turns on ⚠️. The car all of a sudden stops speeding and slows down, while I’m on the left lane out of the 4 lanes. I quickly move to the furthest lane on the right, stopping the car on the side of it, not in the safest place but it is what it is.
My wife and I start making phone calls, trying to see what we can do. After a few calls, we eventually got to a human from the insurance company and requested a tow truck. They said that due to the holiday, it should take between 2-3 hours, but they will try their best to minimize it.
2-3 HOURS?! WHAT?
My wife and I started calling taxi companies to transport her and the kids to the holiday dinner. I would handle the tow truck and meet them later. During this time, the kids became hungry. Thanks to my amazing wife, she put together a cooler with some vegetables and cheese we had at home for them to eat. They finished eating and played some verbal games before the taxi finally arrived.
6:30 pm - It felt like forever, but the taxi finally showed up. I loaded the kids' chairs and our luggage into the back of the taxi, said goodbye to my wife, closed the door for her, and just before doing so, I jokingly said, "Finally, at least I'll get some peace and quiet!" 😇
9:00pm - The tow truck finally arrived after almost 4 hours. I scheduled a taxi to arrive at the same time and drove to meet my family for dinner.
10:00pm - 6 hours after leaving my house, I finally arrived, and my wife and kids surrounded me with hugs. I set down with everyone to finish reading the “Hagada”, it’s basically what you do during this holiday. The family waited for me for the 2nd half, I was eating while they were all reading and singing.
11:30pm - My grandparents who barely drive left us their car until we’ll get a replacement after the holiday. I finally got to my cousin’s place. Doing 5 trips up the elevator to the apartment with our luggage, putting some leftovers in the fridge, picking up my sleepy kids, and tucking them in bed, all felt like freedom. I did all of those things with a smile on my face.
You see, with all the unexpected things that happened, I gained a new perspective. It made me realize how fortunate I truly am, not just because of that single day, but because of life in general. It's easy to lose sight of this when everything is going well.
Bad things can help put your life in perspective, and while they are inevitable, what truly counts is how you respond and what steps you take to move forward.

P.S
I meet a ton of sellers who complain about Amazon: “Amazon did this” and “Amazon did that”. It is what it is. Selling on Amazon is still an amazing opportunity, complaining about it won’t take you anywhere; The actions you take will.
